Michael M. Gunter, professor of political science at Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville,
Tennessee, is spending this summer at the International University in Vienna. He will present his new book
’The A to Z of the Kurds’ in our shop on Saturday, June 26, at 4 pm.
His study covers the fate of the largest nation on Earth without its own independent state. The book
provides a chronology of Kurdish history as well as a dictionary containing several hundred entries on
various aspects of the Kurdish experience, and an extensive bibliography.
Scholars, government officials who are dealing with the Middle East and the Kurds, the news media,
as well as the general reader will find this historical account accessible. It provides valuable information
about a forgotten people who are becoming increasingly important for the future of this politically
hot region.
The Student community of the International University of Vienna will contribute to this special event
playing Kurdish music and providing oriental dishes.
